THE TEACHER

WHO I AM.

Hello everyone!

My name is Chloe. After looking over many, many teacher blogs and scouring through

Pinterest, I decided I needed to have a place to document my adventures as a music teacher.

Here is a little about me:

I graduated from Converse College, an all women's college, in Spartanburg, South Carolina

May 2015 and didn't really have a plan for my life come August. I am however, a true

believer in trusting your gut. Basically in all my major life decisions up to this point I have

waited until the last minute to make a decision based on my gut feeling: where to go to

college, whether to study abroad my senior year, and what to do after college.

I had applied to graduate schools for music therapy and filled out countless teaching

applications, resumes, and cover letters. I got accepted into all three graduate schools by

February and did not hear back for interviews from any schools until late April. So it would

seem pretty obvious which route most people would have chosen. But I had this gut feeling

that I was supposed to have my own classroom in August 2015. So I waited and filled out

more applications, and waited and filled out more applications, and waited some more.

Finally, in June I heard back from a number of schools who were interested in interviews.

And I had 9 interviews in one week!

That gut feeling I had been waiting for, happened when I interviewed for a music position

split between an elementary school and a K-8 school in Darlington, South Carolina. I fell in

love with the schools and the principals upon interviewing and desperately hoped they felt

the same. And they did!! I had officially landed my first teaching job and excitement does

not even begin to explain how I felt!! So come August, I will be living in Florence, South

Carolina, with two of my dear friends and fellow music educators.

Some other fun things about me:

I am Pinterest-obsessed, hair style inept, and love Indian food, chai tea, coffee, and

the mountains.

Enjoy!
